PRANASTHA SHALYA DIAGNOSIS AND EXTRACTION- A LITERARY REVIEW

. Abstract In ancient period, battle injuries were commonly found like impaction of weapons, stones, glass pieces and other type of foreign body. Removal of them was a challenge to then surgeons. But even in the absence of modern diagnostic techniques like- M.R.I, U.S.G etc., Indian surgeons had a great knowledge of diagnosis and expulsion of those foreign bodies. Acharya Sushruta, in his text wrote a separate chapter for the diagnosis and expulsion of foreign bodies. In recent India, where most of the people live in rural area, these ancient techniques were still in practice and proved very scientific.
