Abstract
Leftover pharmaceuticals, over-the-counter personal care items, and
occasionally accessories such as sharps, abandoned test strips, and
other equipment make up pharmaceutical waste. It's a cause for
concern because it jeopardises human and environmental health.
Pharmaceutical waste, whether from a hospital, clinic, pharmacy, or
private residence, cannot be disposed of in the same manner as
conventional garbage due to the risks involved, and requires special
handling. A variety of challenges arise when it comes to dealing with
pharmaceutical waste. We covered waste types, pharmaceutical
entrance routes into the environment, biological waste classification,
and pharmaceutical waste management in this paper. There's also a
danger that waste that hasn't been properly managed will end up in the
hands of drug addicts. To correctly handle and dispose of trash, it is necessary to recognise
the particular dangers of the waste product, as well as the capacity of a given disposal plan to
control them.
