FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL HAND SANITIZER

Abstract
Hand hygiene is a vital principle and exercise within the prevention,
control, and reduction of healthcare uninheritable infections. Right
hand washing and drying methods stop the chain of transmission of
deadly pathogens from the contaminated surface and site form hands to
other parts of the body. The purpose of present study was to prepare
herbal hand sanitizer incorporating the leaves extracts of Neem
(Azadirachta indica), Peppermint (Mentha piperita), and Aloe vera
(Aloe barbadensis) the well-known herbal and flavouring combination
with multidimensional activities; and to evaluate their individual
antimicrobial effectiveness and safety of hands. The results showed
that the organoleptic characteristics of all ready hand sanitizer gels
were thought of acceptable. The pH of the formulations was slightly
acidic owing attributable to the presence of aloe vera in large proportions (90% v/v), which is
known for its acidity. The spreadability for all tested formulations was within the acceptable
range. The antimicrobial effectiveness check incontestable that the ready hand sanitizer gels
had antimicrobial activities against completely different gram-positive and gram-negative
bacterium.
