EFFECT OF PRAPUNNATAKADI LEPA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF VICHARCHIKA (ECZEMA)- A CASE STUDY

Abstract
All the skin diseases in Ayurveda have been described under the
heading of „Kustha‟, which are further divided into Maha Kustha &
Kshudra Kustha. Vicharchika is one of the Kshudra Kustha runs a
chronic course generally considered difficult to cure & even if it is
cured relapses are common; it is characterized with symptoms, namely
Kandu (itching), Srava (discharge), Pidika (vesicles), and Shyavata
(discolouration). Vicharchika is often correlated to eczema based on
the clinical presentations. No satisfactory treatment is available in
contemporary medical practice except antihistamines and topical
steroids. Vicharchika, according to Ayurveda is Rakta Pradoshaja
Vikara being involved of three Dosha with dominance of Kapha.
Vicharchika can be well treated with the help of Ayurvedic medicine. The present case study
is a successful ayurvedic management of a case of vicharchika (eczema). Here is a case report
of a 9 years old male having complaints of dakshin hasta pradeshi twakasphutan, twakadaran,
kandu, daha, jalstrava since last 2 months. he was treated with ayurvedic drugs which gives
effective result in treating with Ayurveda. A remarkable improvement in the condition was
observed in a span of 30 days.
