DEVELOPMENT OF HERBAL BANDAIDS FOR HUMAN APPLICATIONS

Abstract
Wounds may sometime take longer time to heal or remodel the tissues,
which might sometime cause acute wounds leading to generation of
chronic forms or microbial growth. In order to protect and provide
rapid wound healing property, the primary kit used are adhesive
bandages called bandaids. As plant and plant derived product are used
since from pre-historic time so herbal forms of bandaids can play a
massive role in healing of wounds with significant effects. This herbal
forms are proven to show not only better wound healing property but at
the same time may show pharmacological actions such as,
antibacterial, antipyretic, antifungal, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and
anti-oxidative property for better effect. The article is based on
production of such forms of bandaids, by following proper hygienic
and sanitary condition. The herbal bandaids, were formulated and various evaluations were
done following standard procedures. It was found that herbal forms of bandaids may be a
better alternative in healing wounds more diversely and properly.
