A CASE STUDY OF ACUTE FISSURE IN ANO W.S.R TO PARIKARTIKA TREATED WITH NIMBA MALAHAR

Abstract
In recent era, patients suffering from ano-rectal diseases are quite high
in number. Among that acute fissure in ano is one of the commonest
anal disorders. Fissure in ano is a longitudinal tear in lower anoderm. It
is most painful condition affecting the anal region. In Ayurveda, fissure
in ano resemble to Parikartika having cutting and burning pain at
Guda (anus). Acharya Charaka and Acharya Shushruta stated that
parikartika is Basti and virechana vyapada. Here a case report of 45
year female presented with hard stool, bleeding per rectum during and
after defecation, stool streaked with blood, burning and cutting pain at
anal region since 7 days. Patient was treated with daily application of
Nimba malahar topically for wound healing and internally Trifgola as
a potent laxative for relief of constipation, which give effective result within 7 days. Topical
use of nimba malahar and oral Trifgola were found effective on acute fissure in ano.
