AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF URDHWAG AMLAPITTA: A CASE STUDY

Abstract
Urdhwag Amlapitta (Hyperacidity) is Gastro intestinal disorder described in Ayurveda. It can be correlated with Hyperacidity in modern medical science. In India, Acid Dyspepsia has prevalence 38.1%.[13] Due to various factors like progressive changes in lifestyle, adaptation of newer & newer food materials, junk foods, fast foods, changes in methods of cooking, occupational hazards etc. there has been observedan increasing trend of the disease. It is one of the commonest vyadhi of annavaha srotas(Gastro-Intestinal Tract disorder), caused due to Mandagni and Vitiation of Pitta pradhan kapha dosha which gives Amlata and Vidagdhata to ingested food. A 40 years old female patient with history of Urdhwag Amlapitta (Hyperacidity) since 4 years, complaining of persistent Hrullas(Excessive salivation), since one month. Ubhay hasta charana daha(Burning sensation of hand and feet), Avipak(Indigestion), Klama(Generalised Weakness) since 1-2 years and have occasional Chhardi(Vomiting) once in week came to OPD. The recurrence of symptoms had occurred many times. Panchnimbadishaktu churna was given orally which is Tikta-Madhur Rasapradhana, Pittakaphashamaka, Amapachana, Rochana, Grahi, Dipan, Rechan and also Pathyapathya of Urdhwag Amlapitta was advised to follow. On completion of treatment significant improvement was seen in all above mentioned symptom. Thus Panchnimbadishaktu churna is effective in management of Urdhwag Amlapitta.
