COMPILATION OF VARIOUS REFERENCES FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT ALL THROUGH CHARAK SAMHITA

Abstract

Introduction: Pain is defined as an unpleasant and emotional experience associated with or without actual tissue damage. Alleviation of pain is primary rights of patient. So it becomes primary aim of any health practitioner. Through ayurveda perceptive, pain is associated with mana & sparshendriya. However, expression and suppression of pain is the business of mana. Every now and then our acharya explains to treat rogi at his/her sharirik and mansik level. Management of various kinds of pain is very well explained in Charak Samhita; including neurological, psychological, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal pain, etc. In the above manuscript, we compile all such references. Aim: To compile various references of pain management throughout Charak Samhita Objectives: Compilation of references about pain management. To make a list of various pains relieving modalities explained in Charak Samhita. To compile various treatment protocols for pain management explained in Charak Samhita. Methodology: Thorough literature review of Charak Samhita with its commentary Ayurveda Deepika by Chakrapani w.s.r. to pain management is done. References of important treatment protocols used in different kinds (sthana of pain) are quoted. Conclusion: Acharya Charaka has explained the management of pain in various parts of various types of pain. In sharir sthana, Acharya also explains the notion behind the expression and suppression of pain. So, we can conclude here that every kind of pain management is achievable through Ayurveda siddhant and treatment disciplinary.
