Abstract
Around the world, liver disease is one of the leading causes of illness
and mortality. According to WHO estimates, around 500 million
individuals worldwide are infected with chronic hepatitis, which kills
over one million people each year. Medicinal plants are an important
source of potentially valuable novel chemicals for the development of
effective liver-related therapies. Herbal products are also more
affordable and acceptable, have better compatibility with the human
body, have less adverse effects, and are easier to store. The purpose of
this review is to synthesize the scientific facts on hepatoprotective
plants used in traditional medicine.
