STUDY OF TRADITIONAL MEDICINAL PLANTS USED BY THE PEOPLE OF VILLAGE BUDHGAON FROM SANGLI DISTRICT (MAHARASHTRA), INDIA

. Abstract Traditional medicine is widely used and accounts for around 40 % of all health care delivered. In India, medicinal plants are widely used by all sections of the population with an estimated 7500 species of plants used by several ethnic communities. Village Budhgaon, located 8 Kms from Sangli city with great diversity of medicinal plants. This paper represents the ethnobotanical survey carried on the use of medicinal plants in Budhgaon village of District Sangli. The information was gathered using an integrated approach of Botanical collection, group discussion and by discussion with Vaidya, Hakims and people of the village having traditional knowledge. The documented ethnomedicinal plants were mostly used to cure skin disease, fever, cough, stomach infection and ulcer. Keywords: Ethnobotanicals, Budhgaon village and Traditional medicinal plants.
