Abstract
Parpati Kalpana is one of the four major pharmaceutical preparations
having Parad used in Rasa Shastra. It is one of the 25 Rasa Bandhas
that aids in the removal of Parad's Chanchalatva and Durgrahatva, as
these two qualities prevent Parad from being used internally. The
fundamental ingredients for making Parpati are Parad and Gandhak,
as the Bandha term means "to bind the Parad particle with Gandhak."
Parpati is a one-of-a-kind mercurial preparation involving processes
such as Murchana, Sagandha/ Nirgandha (sulphur presence and
absence), Sagni (heat processing), and Pota Bandha of Parad. The
amount of heat provided varies, as does its therapeutic value.
Keywords: Rasa Shastra, Parpati Kalpanas, Grahani roga.
