Abstract
The idea of Srotas, which cannot be directly equated to any current
word, is used to explain the body's internal transportation system.
Srotas actively take part in the conversion, transportation, absorption
and excretion of many substances which flow or transported through
them. In Ayurveda internal transportation system of the body is
explained by the concept of Srotas (channel) which means the structure
through which Sravana (i.e. flow) takes place. Ancient Ayurveda text
i.e. Charaka and Sushruta samhita explained various channels like
Dhatu (Tissue), Mala (Excretion) and Pranodakaannavaha srotasa
(Circulatory, Lymphatic, capillary channels). Among Dhatus; Acharya
Charaka explained about Asthivaha srotasa and their disorders. The
body's components, such as Kshaya or Vriddhi, cannot alter without the intervention of the
Srotas. When vitiated Dosha is concentrated in the Srotas, it causes Srotodushti, or
malformation or dysfunction. Srotodushti has four types: Atipravrutti (excessive flow), Sanga
(obstruction), Siragranthi (extra growths), and Vimarga Gamana (reverse flow). Asthivaha
Srotodushti may occurs by their precede or succeeded Dhatu or origin place of Dhatu
deformity; Agni is also responsible for Dhatu poshan (Tissue nutrition).[1] Asthi kshaya and
Vradhhi; is one of the degenerative illnesses mentioned by Ayurveda, and it occurs when the
Asthi dhatu is affected. It can be co-relate with conditions like Osteoporosis, Rickets,
Osteomalacia, Arthritis, Bone Spur, Fibrous dysplasia etc.
