Abstract
Background: Ulcer healing is one of the major problems, starting
from Vedas & Puranas, affecting all age groups, it may be therapeutic
or accidental. Acharyas explains Kadara as one among the Kshudra
Roga. For this condition treatment Agnikarma is explained, but the
wound formed after Agnikarma takes a longer duration to heal & if not
managed properly may turn into non- healing ulcer. So, treatment of an
ulcer is a challenge facing by the doctors. Here, Taila is selected for
the study as it does the Shodhana and promotes further Ropana by
process of natural healing. Patoladi Taila is mentioned in
Bhavaprakasha for Agnidagdha Vrana. Objective: To evaluate the
efficacy of Patoladi Taila on Post-Operative Agni Dagdha Vrana
(Kadara). Methodology: 60 patients diagnosed as Kadara were selected strictly as per the
pre-set inclusion and exclusion criteria and divided into Group-A & Group-B. Agnikarma
was done using red hot Panchadhatu Shalaka in both the groups & after that daily dressing
was done in both the groups daily once for 14 days. Group-A was treated with Povidoneiodine
ointment and Group B, was treated with Patoladi Taila. The observations procured on
the assessment parameters of 60 patients before treatment (D1), during treatment (D2, D4,
D6, D8) and after treatment on D15 in both the groups, Patients were advised to come for
follow up on 30th & 45th day. Group A and Group B were statistically analysed to determine
the effect of the povidone- iodine (Group A) and Patoladi Taila (Group B). Results: In Group
A & Group B there is significant effect of povidone- iodine ointment & Patoladi Taila on all the parameters after treatment & on comparing parameters before and after in Control group
& trial group it shows significant effect on all subjective and objective parameters like (Pain, discharge, burning sensation, tenderness, depth & diameter). Conclusion: In this clinical study, both Group A and Group B showed significant results in all attributes of Dagdha Vrana.
