FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HAND WASH GEL USING BLACK SEED OIL

Abstract
The aim of present study is to formulate hand wash gel of black seed
oil to maintain cleanliness. Hands are primary mode of transmission of
microbes and infections. Hand washing is important in healthcare
setting, homes and day care preparations. Herbal hand wash gel
evaluated by the parameters such as color, fragrance, grittiness, pH,
viscosity, spread ability, foam height, foam retention, skin irritation
test, anti-microbial activity. The formulated hand wash gel has found
to be good in physical parameter with good cleansing of hands. The
anti-microbial activity of prepared hand wash gel towards E.coli was
determined using agar plate diffusion method. The results were found
to be within normal ranges with no adverse effects. This research is fruitful for the industry to
develop hand wash gel using herbal product black seed oil having anti-microbial activity with
less or no sideffects and effectively maintained hygiene.
