MANAGEMENT OF DAGDHA VRANA BY LOCAL APPLICATION OF CHANDANADI YAMAK ON SECOND DEGREE BURN

Abstract
Burn injury which has been a challenging problem for mankind from
the development of human civilization, is one of the top cause of death
and disabilities worldwide. Burn trauma represents a type of injury that
can be caused by heat, freezing, electricity, chemicals, radiations or
friction. Concept of burn and its management is found in medical
literature from all ancient civilization including Indian Medical
System. In Sushruta Samhita description of etiopathology, clinical
features, diagnosis and management of burn wound is found where it is
described as complication of parasurgical and surgical procedure like
agnikarma. There are different types of Herbal and Herbomineral drugs
described in ayurvedic classics for different degrees of burn injuries. from Yogratnakar, a
ghrita based formulation is selected in our institute for the study containing Raktachandan,
Yasti Madhu, Manjista, Dhataki pushpa, Patranga, Vata Shringa, Prapondarika, Doorva, Go
Ghrita, Tila taila, Go ksheera. In this open clinical study, this compound ayurvedic
formulation is applied as dressing material in second degree burn and we have observed
encouraging result.
