A RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED CLINICAL STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFICACY OF SAMASAPTAKA CHOORNA AND AVIPATTIKARA CHOORNA IN AMLAPITTA

Abstract
Background and Objectives: Today, because of changing lifestyle
which provokes people to run behind a busy stressful life with least
concern towards proper food habit are inviting many health problems.
Amlapitta is one such clinical manifestation, increasing prevalence day
by day. In this regards Ayurveda can provide a better results in
Amlapitta with varieties of treatment modalities. The aim of the study
was to assess the efficacy of two Ayurvedic formulations Samasaptaka
Choorna and Avipattikara Choorna in the treatment of Amlapitta.
Materials and Methods: The present study was conducted on 60
diagnosed subjects of Amlapitta who were randomly allocated into 2
groups with 30 patients each. Samasaptaka choorna was taken in
Group A and Avipattikara choorna in Group B. Medicine was given
for 30 days and the data was collected from the subject at baseline, 16th day, 31st day and on
46th day (follow up). Results: The result of the study showed that there was a statistically
significant difference in the assessment parameters in both the groups from baseline.
However no statistically significant difference was observed between the effect of
Samasaptaka Choorna and Avipattikara Choorna in the management of Amlapitta suggesting
that both interventions were having a significant effect on the condition. Conclusion: Hence
in this study H0 is accepted and has been proven that there is no statistically significant
difference in the effect of Samasaptaka Choorna and Avipattikara Choorna in the
symptomatic management of Amlapitta.
