Abstract
Pyogenic granuloma is a reactive hyperplasia characterized as benign,
localized mass of exuberant granulation tissue produced in response to
various stimuli such as low-grade local irritation, traumatic injury,
hormonal factors, or certain kinds of drugs. It is commonly seen on
gingival and rarely on other parts of oral cavity such as lips, tongue,
palate, and buccal mucosa and alveolar ridge. Most commonly it
occurs in second to third decade of life and has greater predilection
among young females. Clinically the lesion is presented as sessile or
pedunculated mass with smooth or lobulated surfaces varying in size.
This article aims to present a case of pyogenic granuloma on
edentulous mandibular ridge in a 75- year- old male patient which
is comparatively a rare entity.
Keywords: Pyogenic granuloma, edentulous, mandible, surgical excision.
