Abstract
The present study was designed to evaluate hair growth activity of
herbal formulation (Brassica Rapa, Turnip) in albino rats using
different experimental models such as primary skin irritation test. The
plant was subjected to preliminary phytochemical screening and
assessment of hair growth activity of brassica rapa extract. The plants
have been selected on the basis of availability and folk use of the plant.
These activities are tested at herbal extract at 1mg/mL and Minoxidil
1mL (2% Minoxidil Ethanolic Solution) was used for comparison.
Preliminary phytochemical screening revealed the presence of
alkoloides, saponins, flavonoids, and phenol. Pretreatment with dried powder herbal extract
formulation showed increase in hair growth tolerance time and swimming endurance time.
The results from the study indicated that dried powder extract herbal formulation possessed
significant hair growth activity.
