MANAGEMENT OF DIABETIC NEUROPATHY (HASTAPADA CHIMCHIMAYANA) BY AYURVEDA – A CASE STUDY

. Abstract Diabetes mellitus is most powerful enemy of human now a days. And it is raising day by day very fast and affect the health of normal people. In Ayurveda, Diabetes mellitus can be correlated with Madhumeha, which is a subtype of Vataja Prameha. Diabetic neuropathy is a very common symptoms in diabetes mellitus. Diabetic neuropathy is defined as sign and symptoms of peripheral nerve dysfunction in a diabetes mellitus patient because raised blood sugar level can damage the nerve supply throughout the body .in diabetic neuropathy there is involvement of Vatadosha and Pitta Dosha according to ayurveda. Clinical features of diabetic neuropathy in ayurveda is hastapada- chimchimayana, means there is numbness, tingling and burning sensation in the hands and feet. There are Many single drugs and Ayurvedic formulations are available in ayurveda to overcome the symptoms of diabetic neuropathy, in this article I am representing the case study of hastapada-chimchimayan i.e., diabetic neuropathy and its ayurvedic management with very positive and surprising results which is worth documenting.
