A RANDOMISED CONTROL CLINICAL STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFECT OF NALPAMARA YASTIMADHU OINTMENT APPLICATION ON EPISIOTOMY WOUND.

Abstract
Episiotomy is referred as an incision on perineum and vaginal canal to
enlarge the vaginal opening and facilitate easy delivery. The
episiotomy can be considered as Chinna variety of Sadyovrana since
both managed by suturing for the approximation of wound margins. If
the wound is not taken care properly may land up in complications like
infection, wound dehiscence, fibrosis, etc. To promote better healing
Nalpamara Yastimadhu ointment possessing Vrana Shodhana and
Vrana Ropana properties are used. An open labelled randomised
control clinical performed on 30 eligible women. And were randomly
selected and assigned into 2 groups, in group A Nalpamara
Yastimadhu ointment and in group B betadine ointment was applied on
episiotomy wound. Results were analyzed statistically, significant
improvement was seen in pain, pricking sensation, tenderness, redness,
edema, REEDA score and wound size in both the groups. Clinically the Nalpamara
Yastimadhu ointment was found more effective in management of pain, pricking sensation,
tenderness and wound healing.
