Abstract
Ayurveda is the world’s existing health care system and scientific
discipline believing in “Swasthasya Swasthya Rakshanama Aturasya
Vikara Prashamanam Cha”. It is a record of experience justified by all
new studies and proved by repeated administration by generations.
Dosha, Dhatu and Mala are the basic building element of the body.
Their continuous and proper flowing in the body is the material cause
for the health of the body. Any obstacle anywhere in this process is
known as disease. For proper direction of these building blocks in the
body, unaltered state Aakash Mahabhuta is necessary. This space or
Aakash Mahabhuta is represents as the Srotasa or channels for
conduction. The Srotasa is defined as the channels through which the
conduction of the nutrients for Dhatu takes place regularly. The utility of the knowledge of
sites of origin (Srotomoola) of channels (Srotasa) is not directly described in Samhitas. As a
tree is seriously affected by injury to its root, similarly, the channels of circulation in the
human body are seriously affected when their Srotomoola is injured. Srotasa are not only
responsible for dispensing of the nutrients or building elements to different tissues and
cellular system of the body but also involved in removal of the waste product. So, proper
knowledge of Srotasa and Srotomoola is the need of hour to eradicate the disease which
occur due to Srotodushti in humans.
