A PROSPECTIVE OPEN LABELLED RANDOMISED CONTROLLED STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFECT OF SATVAVAJAYA CHIKITSA W.S.R YOGANIDRA IN OCCUPATIONAL STRESS DISORDER

. Abstract Objective: To compare the efficacy of Satvavajaya chikitsa and Ashwagandha capsules in Occupational stress disorder. Methodology: A prospective open labelled randomised controlled study was planned to evaluate the effect of Satvavajaya chikitsa w.s.r Yoganidra in Occupational stress disorder. The study was conducted on patients of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara college of Ayurveda, Udupi with Occupational stress. Total 30 participants with professional life stress scale 16-60 scores were taken for the study. Permuted block randomization was done, and participants were allotted into 2 groups of 15 participants each, Group A (Study group) was advised Yoganidra for 30 days. Group B (Control group) received two Ashwagandha capsules of 500 mg each early morning before food with warm water as anupana for 30 days. Assessment was done on 0th 30th and 60th day. Subjective and objective parameters were scored by standard method and were assessed before and after treatment on 0 and 30th day. Later were analysed statistically using paired ‘t’ test for the numerical data and Wilcoxon signed rank test for ordinal data comparing 0 to 30 th day within group. In between group the numerical data was compared using unpaired ‘t’ test and ordinal data was compared using Mann -Whitney U test. Results: Both groups had statistically significant results in most of parameters. There is no statistically significant difference in between the group. Conclusion: Both the groups treated with Yoganidra and Ashwagandha capsules efficiently tackled the symptoms of occupational stress. Keywords: Chittodvega; Occupational stress; Yoganidra.
