AYURVEDA’S MANAGEMENT OF GINGIVITIS: A CASE STUDY

. Abstract Ayurveda is an oldest medical system since time immemoriable which contains a lot of medical concepts and hypothesis. Dentistry is included in Shalakya Tantra as it is study of Urdhvajatru vikaras. Shitada ~ Gingivits is an early stage of periodontal disease which if not managed at accurate time may progress to periodontitis and tooth loss. Among all periodontal disease, Gingivitis is commonly found in children and adolescents which is most sensitive age group of a developing country like India and a topic of high concern for a developed country also. For Gingivitis allopathy Science has limited success as medicine is costly, scaling’s approach to every hand is far and surgery is not safe for all. Since time immortal Ayurvedic drugs have been used to treat diseases and Shitada ~ Gingivitis is one among them. In present scenario, people are showing a restored interest in Ayurveda to cope up Gingivitis through some holistic treatment. Therapeutic intervention using herbal medicine for gingivitis have gained a widespread attention worldwide.
