Abstract
Nyctanthes arbor-tristis is a mythological plant; and they have high
medicinal values in Ayurveda. It is considered as an important plant
that yields not only unique medicinal products but also has industrial
importance. The crude powder extract of the leaves of the above plant
were taken for the study. The present study targeted to evaluate the
phytoconstituents of Nyctanthes arbor-tristis and its biological activity.
By solvent extraction procedure, a total of four extracts were
designated from the leaf of the plant using four solvents.
Phytochemical screening was conducted by qualitative analysis and
thin-layer chromatography also tested. UV and FTIR characterization
also measured. Paralelly, antibacterial property and antidiabetic
activity were also investigated.
Keywords: nyctanthes arbor-tristis, phyto chemicals, antibacterial activity, thin layer chromatography, anti diabetic activity.
