Abstract
The primary aim of this review was to investigate the current prevalence
of anxiety and depression in youth. A secondary aim was to identify main
themes that underpinned anxiety and depression in Pacific youth.
Depression is more common in all disease’s groups than in the eneral
population anxiety is more familiar in people with heart disease, stroke
andcancer than in the general population. We have discussed the
connection between anxiety and physiological and psychological
functioning or its connection with the areas of family, religion, social
life and behaviors, as well as the cultural side, childhood, pregnancy
and many others. A range of psychological and behavioral treatments
are also affected in improving mood in patients with cancer and arthritis but, again the
number of studies is small.
