AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF OVARIAN ENDOMETRIOMA (CHOCOLATE CYST) – CASE REPORT

Abstract

Menstruation is a natural physiological process in woman’s life, periodic shedding of uterine lining. Endometriosis is the condition, which normal endometrial tissue is abnormally present outside of the uterine cavity. In chronic cases of endometriosis, cystic manifestations can see, are called endometrioma (chocolate cyst). Later endometriomas leads to infertility, malignant conditions and others, so treatment is necessary. In Ayurveda endometriosis cannot be correlated to any single disease. This is a case report of 26 years old lady, who presented with pain during menstruation, lower abdominal pain, irregular menstruation, inability to conceive for the last 2 years. On USG investigation she was diagnosed as ovarian endometrioma. Initially treatment was Ama pachana, kapha hara, lekhana, then vata anulomana drugs were given and endometrioma completely cured. Finally vrishya, garbhada, pustikara medicines were given. She got conceived within one year of treatment.
