REVIEW OF VACHA (ACORUS CALAMUS LINN.) FOR ITS PHAMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Abstract
In Ayurveda Vacha is most important medicinal plant in Ayurvedic
text. This is used in many diseases. In Ayurvedic literature it is one of
the most commonly used in medicinal herb. A review of Ancient
research work and Ayurvedic properties are mentioned in Ayurvedic
literature. The Vacha (Acorus calamus Linn.) Study shows that In
Various Pharmacological properties. According to Ayurveda Vacha is
indicated in Lekhaniya, Arshoghna, Triptighna, Asthapanopag,
Sajnasthapan, Sitaprashaman Gana and indicated in Unamad,
Apsmar, Jvara it is used in Amlapitta, Apasmar, Shopha and Vridhhi.
According to modern pharmacology Acorus calamus is used in Anti-
Inflammatory activity, Anti-adaptogenic activity, Insulin sensitization,
Immuno-modulatory, DNA protection, Neuroprotective activity, Radio-Protective Activity,
Anti-oxidant Property, Anti-proliferative activity, Broncho-dilatory effect.
