A CASE STUDY ON CONVENTIONAL AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT IN CEREBRAL PALSY

Abstract
Cerebral palsy is a non-progressive neuromotor disorder of cerebral
origin. It is the most common cause of crippling in children. It includes
heterogeneous clinical states of variable etiology and severity ranging
from minor incapacitation to total handicap. It is estimated that over 25
lakh children and people in India are with cerebral palsy and the
incidence is up-to 3 cases per 1000 live births in India. Spastic cerebral
palsy is most common and incidence is 60% to 70% of all cerebral
palsy cases. Also, it is more common and severe in boys as compared
to girls. In Ayurveda spasticity is related to Jadatwam with
predominance of Vata-dosha in it. The article represents a sincere
effort to highlight the effectiveness of Ayurvedic treatment modalities
in a 2-year-old male child suffering from spastic diplegic CP.
