EVALUATION OF SHUKRAVARDHAK KWATH SADHIT CHATUHPRASRUTIKA BASTI AND CHATUH-PRASRUTIKA BASTI (MODIFIED KALA BASTI SCHEDULE) IN KSHINASHUKRA

Abstract

Shukra is one among Sapta Dhatu. Reference of KshinaShukra is available in Sushruta Samhita.[1] KshinaShukra is one type of Shukra Dushti and involvement of Dosha has been mentioned in Sushruta Shareer Sthana.[2]Acharya Charaka has mentioned SukraKshaya is a type of Napunsakta[3] (Impotency). Oligozoospermia is a condition where the sperm count is less than 15 million of sperms/ml of semen. Oligozoospermia is one among the many causes of infertility. In India, infertility is a social stigma, particularly in rural areas, which affects the couple‟s psychological harmony, sexual life and social functioning. Infertility may cause heavy shadow on the physiological and social adequacy of female, and diminish social standards of male partner. Acharya Charaka has mentioned Chatuhprasrutika Basti in the management of KshinaShukra.[4]The main line of treatment in Kshina Shukra has been given as‟ Kshineshukrakari Kriya’ Before the administration of the drugs, which are having Vrishya Karma. It is a general factor to prepare the body in order to get maximum benefit. These prepatory procedures are sufficient enough to create Srotoshuddhi and a body devoid of Malas. Ayurveda includes Vamana Karma and Virechna Karma in these prepatory procedures. In Shukradosha i.e., in Kshina Shukra the choice of treatment is Basti (Anuvasana & Niruha) which is made out of Shukravardhaka dravyas. i.e. Ghrita, Taila etc. is given the classic like Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita etc. explain various recipes of Vrishya Basti which can be effectively used in the condition. In this clinical study a minimum of 30 patients suffering from Kshina Shukra were randomly selected. The parameters based on sign and symptoms analyzed statistically. Subjects were administered Shukra Vardhak Kwath Sadhita Chatuhprasrutika Basti in modified Kala Basti schedule around 520 ml and Anuvasana Basti around 70 ml of Phalaghruta and Chatuhprasrutika Basti in modified Kala Basti schedule around 420 ml and Anuvasana Basti around 70 ml of Phalaghrita.
