A CLINICAL STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFICACY OF GOARKA NASYA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF MANYASTHAMBA

. Abstract Ayurveda has emphasized the importance of Gomutra in the management of various disorders in all treaties. The current research paper describes the importance of Nasya with Gomutra in the management of Manyasthamba. Gomutra with its Ushna, Teekshna and Kaphavatahara property helps in the Samprapti Vighatana in Manyasthamba. Certain diseases can spread through the urine of infected animals, to avoid such complications, in the present study Gomutra is used in the form of Goarka. Material and Methods: Patients with Classical Lakshanas of Manyasthamba i.e Shoola and Sthamba in Manya Pradesa, who fulfilled the diagnostic and inclusion criteria were selected from OPD and IPD of KVG Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Sullia. Single group clinical study was planned with sample size of 30 patients. The patients were administered Nasya with Goarka in Madhyama Matra of 6 Bindu in each nostril and the assessment was done on 1st, 7th & 21st day. Result and Discussion: In the present study out of 30 patients, 9 patients had mild improvement, 12 patients had moderate improvement and 9 patients had marked improvement and no patient had complete relief. Conclusion: From this study it is evident that by relieving symptoms such as Shoola and Sthamba, the Goarka Nasya is effective in Samprapti Vighatana of Manyasthamba.
