Abhiram R. Sajeev, Suganya D., A. Priya and K. Arun Chander*
. Abstract Peutz Jeghers syndrome (PJS) is an autosomal dominant genetic condition affecting around 1 in 1,50,000 and 200,000 individuals in the world. Multiple benign polyps known as hamartomas also begin to grow in the gastrointestinal tract of affected individuals around that age. Acute pancreatitis is the inflammation of pancreas that develops quickly. We present a known case of Peutz jeghers syndrome with acute pancreatitis in a 11 year old female child who presented with pigmentation of oral mucosa and inner lip and complaints of abdominal pain, vomiting and constipation. Blood tests reveals the elevation of pancreatic enzymes like Serum Amylase and Serum Lipase with normal liver function tests(LFTs) and complete blood count(CBC). She is managed with Cap Agna 10000 for the correction of deficiency in pancreatic enzymes and her other symptoms were managed with respective treatments appropriately. Keywords: Hamartomas, Peutz Jeghers Syndrome, Acute Pancreatitis. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
