AYURVEDIC, PHYTOCHEMICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL INFORMATION OF BHRINGRAJ (ECLIPTA ALBA): A REVIEW ARTICLE

. Abstract Eclipta alba is a common folk medicinal plant known as bhringraj. It belongs to Asteraceae family and found in tropical and subtropical regions of india. In Ayurveda Bhringraj is considered to be “Rasayana”, herb for longevity and rejuvenation. Main principle of Ayurveda is to balance tridosha and this herb works wonderfully on tridosha and maintains their imbalance. This herb has been better known for its curative property and exibits many pharmacological activities like analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antihepatotoxic, antihyperglycemic, antioxidant, immunomodulatory and good rejuvenating property. This contribution provides a comprehensive review of the plant Bhringraj on Ayurvedic, Phytochemical, Pharmacological as well as its medicinal uses, dosages, formulations, its traditional uses in Ayurvedic texts.
