CLINICOPATHOLOGICAL STUDY OF URINARY BLADDER UROTHELIAL TUMORS (2017-2021) IN BASRA CITY SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL OF THE ARAB BOARD OF ANATOMIC PATHOLOGY

Abstract
Introduction: The incidence of urothelial tumors have been increasing
at high rate, especially urothelial carcinoma. Most of cases occur in
men. Urothelial carcinomas are mainly diagnosed by TURBT and
histologically; and a treatment choice depends upon cancer stage. Aim:
To estimate the incidence of urothelial tumors in Basra city and
analyze the results with published data. Methodology: A total 441
Cases of urothelial tumors were collected from governmental and
private laboratories reports were collected; the study period was
conducted from January 2017 to December 2021. Data analyzed according to age, sex,
histopathological diagnosis, grade and stage. Results: The incidence of urothelial tumors in 5
years from 2017-2021, were the highest in 2018, with most common histologic type was
urothelial carcinoma, with more common in male gender, with mean age of diagnosis was 63
year. Conclusion: The increasing of urothelial carcinoma as the most common types of
bladder cancer could be attributed to life style and increase smoking, male are more common
affected, low grade urothelial carcinoma and stage PT1 were the most encountered in this
study can be explain as an early detection with TURPT.
