A CRITICAL REVIEW ON GRUHADHUMA IN AGADA YOGAS

. Abstract Gruhadhuma is an ingredient mentioned in Ayurveda pharmaceutics under a group of drugs termed as Panchamrittika.[1] This ingredient is used in various Ayurvedic formulations for the treatment of wide variety of diseases. In this article main focus is implied on its use in preparations aimed at treating various Poisonous Conditions like Snake Bite (Sarpa Damsha), Bite of Mouse (Musika Damsha), Insect Bite (Keeta Visha) etc. Along with the Agad Yogas (Ayurvedic Formulations for treatment of poisonous conditions) mentioned for treatment of Various Poisonous Conditions certain combinations are also mentioned in Ayurvedic Texts which are Compiled here. Gruhadhuma can be administered in combination with other herbal and mineral ingredients in the form of Anjana (Collyrium), Lepa (anointment), etc. Here a Literary Search is performed to dig out various formulations having Gruhadhuma as an ingredient used for the treatment of Visha and Visha related conditions from the treatises of Ayurveda.
