Vishal Lipane*, Akshay Adlinge, Sanket Langore and Gaurav Wadurkar
Abstract
After a patient who had contracted the rare Sudan strain of the Ebola
virus (EBV) died in the Mubende district on September 20, 2022, the
Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uganda proclaimed the Ebola
virus disease (EVD) epidemic. Uganda has had numerous outbreaks of
the Sudan strain of EVD since the year 2000, and it has been more than
ten years since the last case of EVD (Sudan strain) was documented
there. Humans and other primates are susceptible to the severe,
frequently fatal disease known as EVD, which manifests as a variety of
neurological and gastrointestinal symptoms. In order to coordinate
outbreak planning and response, this article has examined several
initiatives made by the World Health Organization and the Ministry of
Health of the Republic of Uganda. To assist in the early management
and prevention of the EVD, the government and individuals have received certain
recommendations. Effective isolation, triage, and screening of symptomatic patients have
also received additional attention.
