Abstract
Having bad skin is one of the many things that can affect our
confidence. Good skin boosts our confidence, and it initiates good
health as well. In Ayurveda, all skin diseases are included in
Kustharoga. There are two types of Kushtaroga, i.e Mahakushta and
Kshudrakustha. Vicharchika is one of the Kshudrakushtha occuring
mainly due to Imbalance of Tridosha. According to modern science,
Vicharchika has similar clinical presentation as Eczema. Eczema is a
form of dermatitis which is characterized by dry itchy skin with areas
of poorly demarcated erythema and scale. In contemporary medical
practice, no satisfactory treatment is available except antihistamines
and topical steroids. These modern treatment modalities are not devoid
from grave complications mainly in long term use. Due to these
reasons, there is need for treatment having good efficacy and no
toxicity profile. So the case report involved a male patient having
complaints of blackish discoloration, itching, flaking and cracking on
anterior side of left leg. The plan of treatment is Amrutadi Kwatha
mentioned in Chakradatta Samhita. The contents present in the
Amrutadi Kwatha helps to break the pathogenesis by its Tikta, Kashaya Rasa, Anushna Virya,
Madhura Vipaka, Ruksha, Laghu Guna, as well as blood purifying activity.
Keywords: Vicharchika, Mahakustha, Kshudra Kustha, Eczema, Amrutadi Kwatha.
