ROLE OF CHAVYADI PEYA IN MANAGEMENT OF STHOULYA (OBESITY) - A CASE STUDY

Abstract
In today’s modern era due to modernization and advancement of
science and technology, people are moving towards sedentary life
style. Due to change of lifestyle and dietary habits there is more
development of life style disorder in present era.[1] Obesity is one of
the major life style disorders which affects all the age groups and
produces various complications like hypertension, diabetes,
osteoarthritis etc. In Ayurveda obesity can be co-related with Sthoulya
or Medoroga. Most of the Acharya has mentioned Sthoulya under
Santarpanjanya Vyadhi and given treatment principal for the same.
Acharya Bhavaprakash Mishra have mentioned Chavyadi Peya[2] for
the treatment of Sthoulya. The ingredients of the Chavyadi Peya have
properties like Laghu, Ruksha, Ushna, Tikshna etc. these properties
can produce Langhna, Deepan, Pachana, Lekhana, Karshana etc. which
are helpful in treatment of Sthoulya.
