Abstract
The kidneys play a crucial role in maintaining fluid homeostasis by
filtering out toxins. The eGFR test measures the kidneys' ability to
filter waste and extra fluid out of the blood. Depending on kidney
performance, there are 5 stages of renal disease. With increase in each
stage disease worsens and kidney function decreases and ultimately
fatal. Thus, at each level, intervention is crucial to minimizing kidney
dysfunction. Dialysis and renal transplantation are the gold standards for
treating chronic kidney disease, but due to their high cost and high
level of complexity, only a small fraction of CKD patients are able to
access these treatments. Therefore, there is a pressing need to treat the
renal diseases in early stages of CKD along with a safe and effective
alternative therapy that might assist cut down on patients' demands for dialysis and kidney
transplants. Current study presents a case of CKD patient (72/Male) treated with Panchakarma
therapy supported with conservative ayurvedic treatment. Vajedi Basti was given as part of
panchakarma along with the Gokshuradi Guggulu and Punarnavashtak Kwatha. It was
observed that kidney functioning is improved significantly by 60%.
