Abstract
Oral cancer is ranked sixth globally. India accounts for one-third of all
oral cancer cases worldwide. Whereas approximately 84%-97% of all
cases of oral cancer are caused by oral squamous cell carcinoma
(OSCC), which results from epithelium lining and forms a tumor. The
majority of these tumors are diagnosed at advanced stages. To prevent
the spread of cancer to other organs, surgery is the most preferred
treatment method. Oral fistulas are one of the complications that may
arise after oral surgery, which needs proper care and a line of treatment
till the complete fistula closure. Ayurvedic classics list a variety of
treatment modalities for fistulas, with an aim to reduce inflammation
by gradually healing the wound with natural and safe methods. Among
all ayurvedic practices, Ksharsutra therapy is the proven gold standard
for treating fistula in ano. With this reference, the present article discusses the post-operative
management of carcinoma buccal mucosa of a 54-year-old Male with ayurvedic treatment. The
patient was treated for 21days, and impressive results were observed. Not only was the fistula
