Abstract
Fibrosarcoma is a rare malignant mesenchymal tumour composed of
fibroblasts with variable collagen production that has a high local
recurrence rate. Fibrosarcoma can be treated with surgery,
chemotherapy, and radiotherapy alone or in combination, depending on
the stage and site of metastasis. This study presents the case of a 60-
year-old male who complained of asymptomatic swelling on his right
lateral cervical region. In this case of biopsy proven sarcoma, PET-CT
findings are suggestive of multiple metastatic lesions. Depending on
the patient's diagnosis, he received five cycles of chemotherapy and ten
days of radiotherapy, followed by targeted drug therapy. But the
response was satisfactory for the first three chemotherapy cycles, then
it declined day by day, and the patient passed away 8 months after diagnosis. This case study
demonstrates high-grade fibrosarcoma with a rapid spread rate within 15 to 20 days of initial
complaints because of 12 years history of abdominal DFS. Hence, the study shows that the
diagnosis should be made as early as possible in order to improve the prognosis and long
term follow up once DFS demonstrated. Histological grade of malignancy, and local
recurrence are the most important prognostic factors. This case report also present review on
diagnostic test of cancer.
