Abstract
Background: This study was carried out during the period from
September to December 2016. Objectives: The study aimed was to.
1- detect IgM of hepatitis E virus in pregnant women using ICT.
2- detect IgM and IgG of HEV antibodies in patient’s serum using
ELISA in Eldamazin, Blue Nile State, Sudan.
Material and Methods: All serum samples were analyzed for HEV
IgM rapid test using Immuno chromatographic Test (ICT)
(HALOGEN) and specific anti-HEV IgM and IgG using enzymelinked
immune-sorbent assay (ELISA) (DRG Instrument GmbH, -
Germany). Results: 181samples negative in both ICT and
ELISA(IgM),11 samples positive in both ICT and ELISA while 1
sample was negative by ICT found positive by ELISA, and 3 samples positive by ICT was
found negative by ELISA, the result highly significant at 1% level.
