Abstract

The plants of Liliaceae Family are very commonly found plants and also they are having several important medicinal uses as well as commercial use. The family is widely distributed among monocotyledonous families. The present work is aimed to study the characteristics and uses of some important plants belonging to the Liliaceae family. A literature review of few important plants of the family is being carried out in this study with the help of literature from Ayurvedic texts and various related web portal and articles. Most of the plants from Liliaceae family are flowering plants, having the active compounds like saponins which show the unique properties of foaming and emulsifying agents present in the root, fruit and leaves of the plant.
