CONCEPT OF NIDRA AND SWAPNA & ITS SIGNIFINCANCE

. Abstract The Ayurvedic samhitas describes the main three milestones of life is Ahara, Nidra & Brahmacharya and nidra is one of them; it is very significant for human being. Nidra is very crucial factor for every day’s life. If Nidra is not taken routinely can cause serious diseased, which will affect the physical and mental health as well. Lack of Nidra causes pathological conditions called Anidra (Primary insomnia). After some time it is converted into Chronic condition called Secondary Insomnia or tertiary insomnia. The Samhitas of classical science contain the entire subject of nidra and its classification. In this study, a Critical explanation, presented on “Concept Of Nidra and Swapna & its Signifincance” is explained. According to Acharyas Swapna for the purpose of sickness status and diagnosis. Swapna has been described by Charaka in terms of the Arishta Lakshanas of illness. The idea was explained by Kashyapa during the Grahabhada conversation. The idea of Swapna was articulated in Prakruti by nearly all Acharyas. A person's Prukruti and Prakruti are decided at the time of conception, depending on the dosha that is present.
