CONCEPT OF KAPHAJ YONIVYAPAD IN AYURVEDA: LITERARY REVIEW

. Abstract Stree is considered as a chief cause of progeny [1] and Ayurveda recommend that keeping Shuddha Yoni and Shuddha Garbhashay help to prevent prevalance of common gynaecological disorders like Yoni- Vyapad etc. No abnormality occur in the Yoni (Aartavavaha Srotas) without vitiated Vata Dosha.[1] If Vata Dosha is in its normal phase, Aartavavaha Srotas can not get diseased. According to Acharya Charaka, etiological factor for Kaphaj Yoni Vyapad is intake of excessive Abhishyandi Ahara by its picchila and guru gunas obstruct the srotas through which the Rasa dhatu is carried out to its particular place of nourishment. Which results in excessive formation of kleda. This increases gurutwa and kleda in the body manifests as Kaphaj Yoni Vyapad. When a lady follows of physical exercise, day sleep etc. (Kapha vardhaka Vihar), it results in increase of Kapha dosha in the body and eventually they cause Kaphaj Yoni Vyapad. Due to infection of Yoni, there may be sign and symptoms like Vaginal discharge (Yoni srava), itching (Yoni Kandu), coldness (Sheetala) are found in Kaphaj Yoni Vyapad. Most of these symptoms of Kaphaj Yoni Vyapad are similar to Pruritus Vulvae in modern science. Before going to management of the disease literature of the disease should be known.
