CONCEPTUAL STUDY ON PRATIMARSH NASYA: A REVIEW ARTICLE

Abstract
Life without diseases is impossible for numerous reasons in present
days. But it is possible to prevent the occurrence of diseases if one
follows the habit of living which are nicely mentioned in ayurveda in
the form of “Swasthavritta” which is dealt as daily conduct etc.
Ayurveda has described preventive aspect in detailsuch as Dinacharya
(daily regimen), Ritucharya (seasonal regimen), Rasayana
(Rejuvenation) and Yoga (exercise). Aacharya has mentioned
Pratimarsh Nasya as a preventive as well as curative aspect while
explaininf the Dinacharya. As Nasya is helpful to prevent the disease
mainly of organ above Urdhavajatrugata (organ above the juglar
notch). Pratimarsh Nasya is a special type of Sneha Nasya with low
dose and minimal complications. It can be administered daily and even in all season at
morning and evening time. It can be dipping finger in required Sneha then dropping it in each
nostril. It can also be administered in rainy season. Aacharya Vagbhatta has explained its
beneficial effects on various organs. Detail description including indication and
contraindication regarding the Pratimarsh Nasya explained in this study.
