COLLECTION AND IDENTIFICATION OF SOME WOOD DECAYING FUNGI FROM BULDHANA DISTRICT

Abstract

Fungi comprises about 80000 known species of microorganisms having great medicinal, environmental importance. Fungus is large group of eukaryotic heterotopic organisms which includes yeast, rust, mold as well as more familiar mushroom. There is a great diversity of fungi on our planet with hundreds of thousands have been describe and more than half still needing to be describe. Wood decaying fungi are not only a major element keeping forest ecosystem healthy, but they also play important role in social, economical and environmental pollution control. The basic role of wood degrading fungi in the global ecosystem is to recycle the carbon removed from the atmosphere via photosynthesis by autotrophic organisms.
