GHEE RESIDUE (BERI) AS AN ANTIOXIDANT – A STUDY
*Dr. Sampada Pandhare
Abstract
A cosmetic formulation is now expected to serve two functions. First,
it should beautify the body part where it is applied, and second, it
should protect the health of the body part where it is applied. Cosmetic
formulation constituents must be chosen with care because none
should interfere with either of these functions. In many cases, the
various ingredients are chosen based on their ability to serve these
important functions. Ghee Residue (Beri), a by-product discarded as
waste, is a nutritionally dense source of fat, protein, and minerals.
Because Ghee Residue is high in milk proteins and nitrogenous
compounds, it has been evaluated for use as a cosmetic active material.
Keywords: Cosmetic formulation, Ghee Residue, Ageing, Antioxidant, Free radicals, lipid and non-lipid Constituents.
