BMD IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF AYURVEDA

. Abstract BMD or bone mass density or bone mineral density or bone densitometry is indicated in osteoporosis and is also used to predict the risk of bone fracture. In terms of Ayurveda, we can assess the optimum strength of asthi dhatu and majja dhatu by it. The result in the form of a T score and Z score gives the clue of the condition of dosha, dhatu, and mala in Ayurveda. The optimum condition of asthi dhatu and majja dhatu can be examined clinically in a patient by the lakshana of asthi and majja sarta, while loss of asthi dhatu and majja dhatu can be examined clinically in a patient by the lakshana of asthikshaya and majjakshaya.
