Abstract
The objective is to describe a uncommon case of Ludwig,s angina, a
fast growing necrotizing cellulitis of the mouth's floor that affects the
submaxilla, submandible, and sublingual regions. A 21 years old
female patient was admitted in the female ENT ward with the chief
complaint of difficulty in swallowing and pain in throat since 3 days.
CECT scan of neck suggested sublingual abscess with cellulitis. The
patient underwent surgical procedure. Ludwig's angina, which had a
relatively high fatality rate of over 50% in the pre-antibiotic era, now
has a mortality rate of just about 8–10%. Early diagnosis and antibiotic
treatment is preffered, if cannot be treated can go with surgical
procedure.
