EFFICACY OF KUKKUTAND PINDA SWEDA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF MANYASTAMBHA (CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS): A CASE STUDY

Abstract
Manyastambha (Cervical Spondylosis) is a one of the lifestyle
disorders which explained as one among Nanatmaja Vikara. In
Ayurveda Ruk (pain) and Stambha (stiffness) in the neck region is the
cardinal feature of Manyastambha. Swedana Karma relieves the Ruk
(pain), Stambha (stiffness) so Kukkutanda Pinda Swda is used as a
Panchkarama Therapy. This study aims to explore the prospects of
Kukkutanda Pinda Sweda in the treatment of Manyastambha. A 35
year old male suffering from Manyastambha since 2 months with the
complaints of of pain and stiffness in the back of neck region, mild
shoulder pain, difficulty in movement of the neck. Patient was treated
with Kukkutanda Pinda Swda for 9 days. The patient got marked
improvement in pain (85.72%) and stiffness (85.72%)). The patient got 100% relief the range
of movement of the neck. Thus Kukkutanda Pinda Swda appears to be useful in the treatment
of Manyastambha.
